Contribution Terms

Version: 2026-10-27-private-v1 · 27 October 2026

What you are contributing

Toilet Bench is a private AI evaluation benchmark and dataset operated by Benjamin Hughes. You can voluntarily contribute a photo and a marked point showing where you would go to find the toilet. No account or payment is required.

Your permission

You keep ownership of your photo. By checking the agreement and submitting, you grant Benjamin Hughes a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, resize, annotate and process your photo and marked point solely to develop, maintain and run this private benchmark. This includes showing the photo to AI models for evaluation and using service providers as necessary for that purpose, subject to the Privacy Notice.

This permission does not allow public release or sale of your photo or a downloadable dataset, use in advertising, or training or fine-tuning models on your contribution. Evaluation providers must not be allowed to reuse contributions for training. Aggregate benchmark scores and findings may be published without publishing your photo or identifiable information.

What you may submit

Only submit a photo you took or have the rights to contribute under these terms. Respect venue rules and other people's privacy. Do not submit identifiable people, names, contact details, documents, screens containing personal information, or intimate images. Do not take photos of people using toilets or in other private situations.

Your agreement does not give permission on behalf of anyone pictured. We may reject, delete or redact unsuitable contributions. Please check your photo before submitting.

Removal and changes of use

You can end this licence and request removal by emailing benjamin.d.hughes@pm.me. Save the reference shown after submission so we can find your contribution. If you lose it, provide enough information to help us locate the photo; you do not need an account.

We will stop new evaluation use and remove the contribution from the active dataset within one month of a verified request. Restricted backup copies may remain until the backup retention period described in the Privacy Notice ends. Already published aggregate results need not be withdrawn where they do not identify you or reproduce your photo. These terms do not limit your statutory privacy rights.

Any broader use, including public dataset release or model training, would require a new permission process before that use. A later edit to these terms does not expand permission for an earlier contribution.
